Toys - Students may bring a small toy to school to play with. We recommended this is not an expensive or precious item. Electronic toys, devices or games of any sort are not allowed.Money - Any money sent in to school should be in a sealed envelope with the student’s name and the payment it is for clearly indicated.Cell phones - These are only permitted as a means for contacting parents after school. They are to be turned off during the day and kept in school bags. They may not be used by students to ring parents during the day.iPods, iPads and other devices are permitted for students who travel to and from school on the bus. These must be turned off during the day and kept in school bags. They may not be used during morning tea or lunchtime. Students who repeatedly disregard these guidelines will have the item confiscated and kept for the parent to collect.
KingsWay Junior Campus has a 'no peanuts' policy at the school. The Totara Studio is completely NUT FREE due to severe allergies in some children.
KingsWay Junior Campus has opted to be a ‘Healthy Food’ school. Healthy snacks and lunches are encouraged at all times. Suggested choices are:
Unhealthy foods are discouraged:
Food and drink only allowed on special occasions:
Drink bottles must only contain water. These need to be taken home at least once a week to be thoroughly cleaned to prevent the build-up of bacteria.
On their birthday students are welcome to bring something to share. Please consider healthy options.Occasionally there will be special food items for sale at lunch time. These are usually student run fund raising events which will be signalled via the Junior Campus newsletter.
It is our desire that the Junior Campus is a rubbish free zone. Students will be required to take home all food wrappers and scraps. Classroom rubbish will be gathered into appropriate containers for recycling where possible.
Please note that school bags will need to fit into lockers provided by the school. The dimensions of these lockers are: 375mm Wide x 400mm High x 450mm Deep. Please keep this in mind when purchasing school bags.
Please be aware that students walking or cycling to school will need to cross a very busy road. We recommend that you walk or cycle this route a number of times with your child to ensure they know to cross at the traffic lights and how to do so safely.
For all other Travel arrangements please refer to to our TRANSPORT website pages.
The school day begins at 8.55am and finishes at 3.05pm. Please notify the school office or teacher if you know your student will be late. On late arrival all parents or caregivers must sign the student in at the school office. If a student needs to leave early for any reason written notification should be supplied to the teacher and the student signed out in the office by the accompanying adult. Students returning to school before the end of the school day must be signed back in at the school office before returning to their studio.
Parents helping in classrooms should also sign in at the office as the school has a responsibility to account for every person ‘on site’ for student safety and in the case of an emergency.
When students are absent from school for any reason the school should be notified at the earliest possible time by phone or email. Please refer to our REPORTING AN ABSENCE page on this website.
Cell phones are a very useful tool but they can also be a big distraction and can lead to unhealthy forms of interaction.Cell phones may be brought to school but they should not be used during the school day from 8:45am to 3:15pm. The exception to this is where the student has been given express permission to use a phone by a teacher and is under that teacher’s supervision. If a cell phone is used during the school day without permission, it will be confiscated. The confiscation will be recorded on KAMAR, parents will be notified and the student can only retrieve the phone from the Senior School Administrator at the end of the school day. If the student is found to breach the cell phone rule a second time, then a dean will contact parents to negotiate an appropriate consequence. If you need to urgently contact your son/daughter during the school day, please contact the school reception.
