Academic Excellence

In Primary and Middle School, homeroom based teaching consolidates skills learnt and develops a greater level of competency. Teaching programmes are adapted to ensure that all students are catered for and individual needs being addressed.

KingsWay School has established a tradition of high academic standards and excellent academic results which exceed the national average and those of comparable schools. Students do well in all subjects. There is a wide range of subjects for students to select and the school has well-resourced facilities.

The Senior School follows the NCEA Curriculum. Solid teaching in the Primary and Middle School lays the foundations for the excellence achieved in the Senior School. There is a support staff team which assists students who have learning difficulties and accommodates the needs of gifted and talented students. The well-established culture of learning and success in the school inspires students to achieve.
The New Zealand Curriculum specifies eight learning areas: English, the arts, health and physical education, learning languages, mathematics and statistics, science, social sciences, and technology. Additional programmes such as Gateway assist students to have experience in a work environment.

Students have the opportunity to participate in additional activities such as debating, The Young Enterprise Scheme, ICAS Examinations, subject based competitions and inter-school challenges.
