In 2020 we are paying Homestay Host Families $300 per week, this is to provide care, food & accommodation to an international student. The student needs to have their own room, bed and linen, wardrobe and/or drawers, desk, a table lamp/adequate lighting and adequate forms of heating for winter. Homestay Caregivers are to provide all meals, breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea & dinner, on a daily basis.
When you become a Homestay Caregiver you are accepting full responsibility for your international student when they are not at school. You are considered their family away from their usual home. This means you must know where they are, at all times, when they will be home and be able to transport them to activities they are involved in (within reasoning).
Long term International Students usually arrive in NZ at the beginning of the year (late January to early February) and stay until the end of Term 4. Depending on what year level they are studying, their departure can be from the middle of November to the middle of December.
From time to time there may be a small number of international students that arrive during the year, at the start of Term 2 or Term 3.
As we are a Christian school our Board of Trustees has stipulated that all our Homestay Caregiver Families must be committed Christians regularly attending a Church.
