FLIPPA BALL

Primary Flippa ball play on a Sunday afternoon (Usually from 4pm) at the Leisure centre and is a good beginning level entry into the sport of water polo.

Junior Waterpolo

Year 3/4 Junior waterpolo - played in the shallow end of the pool and using adapted waterpolo and flippaball rules this is a fun and engaging entry point that builds confidence in the water, teamwork and develops basic ball skills. We start this grade with two referees one in the pool supporting the players and one officiating on the side.

Teams are 6 players and the goalie in the pool. Substitutions at any time.

Games will be 2 x 10 minute halves with running clock. Our year 3/4 team are called Kahawai

Year 5/6 Junior waterpolo - also played in the shallow end of the pool and using adapted waterpolo and flippaball rules.  This is a  faster game than the year 3 and 4’s play but still hugely fun and engaging. This further develops the players water confidence and their swimming ability as well as their teamwork and ball skills. We start this grade with two referees officiating on the side.

Teams are 6 players in the pool plus the goalie. Substitutions at any time.

Games will be 2 x 10 minute halves with running clock. Our year 5/6 team are called Kingfish

Caps and swimwear

Sets of caps are provided, but teams may use their own caps if they prefer. Wearing of rash shirts and goggles are not allowed (except by permission).

Trainings

There are no trainings for flippa ball teams as the pool is too expensive to hire. We have student coaches offer to coach teams on the night.

Y5 & Y6 - Levi Fitzgerald.

Sunday League term 2 start date 9 May - 6 June 2021 (no games Queen's Birthday) (8 weeks)  at The Leisure Centre, Brightside Road, Stanmore Bay.

Sunday League term 3 start date 1 August - 26 September 2021(9 Weeks) Registration open towards the end of term 2

The aims of the Sunday League are to provide a fun and exciting opportunity for children to develop their water and ball skills by playing flippa ball in a fun, mildly competitive format.

Club members provide the refereeing services, and encourage parents to help where they can.

The Competitions are run on a round robin plus knockout format based on a draw conducted at the beginning of the tournament. The format of the leagues depends on the number of teams entered in each division.

Depending on numbers a series of finals are held at the end of the round-robin section in order to determine the final placings.
