As part of our ongoing Health/Careers work in Year 9, students have an opportunity to seek work experience for one day. The aim for this work placement is to see our students better equipped to make informed choices for careers and life. Work Experience day is part of this program. It is an opportunity for students to go to a place of work that is of interest to them and find out more about what it would be like to have a career in that field. This is not the day to pick out the career your child will follow for the rest of their life. This is an opportunity: - To just “ take an inside look” at a workplace that may be within your child’s current field of interest - To experience a day in the work force where conversations and encouragement can be offered and given from any significant adults in their chosen work placement. Finding a place of work: Be inventive and broad in the quest for a placement. If your child has an interest in Architecture help them investigate a position within associated INDUSTRIES such as Bunnings, Mitre 10 or maybe with a builder for the day. Students gain confidence in leaps and bounds when given the opportunity to select and make contact with their own work placement, encourage them to make that phone call. The work experience must be physically and emotionally safe for your child. Parents need to check their child’s arrangements and give their consent on the online Work Day Proposal form.
