Activities at KingsWay - Performing Arts and Sports
Netball @ KingsWay School

Welcome

Welcome to Netball at Kingsway.  Netball as a team sport is offered to Kingsway students from year 4 through to year 13.  Though predominantly a female sport, boys are allowed to compete at an equal level until age 13, so if there are any young blokes that want to mix it up with the girls, let’s see your ball skills on the netball courts.
Kingsway is affiliated under the Hibiscus Coast Netball Centre, but also have a few teams that travel down to Netball North Harbour to compete in that competition.
During the 2009 season, Kingsway entered 15 teams in the Hibiscus Coast competitions and 2 teams in the Netball North Harbour competition and the top College team also competed in the inaugural Rodney District Secondary Schools Competition.  The 2010 season should see roughly the same team distribution through the competitions.

Cancellations

ACS Netball and Football Zone day has been cancelled.  It will not be held at all this week.

Hibiscus Coast (HBC):  Netball is only cancelled in extreme weather conditions, i.e. Thunder and lightening.  The message on the HBC phone at the centre will be updated if there is a cancellation.  So if you are concerned about the weather, please phone (09) 424-2318 as close as possible to game time, for an update.  As far as possible, team coaches and/or managers will be notified as soon as cancellation notices are circulated.
North Harbour (NNH):  Cancellation will be posted to the NNH web site, so please monitor the web site as close as possible to game time.
Forfeits:  If your team cannot play on the designated game time, it is imperative that the team coach/manager contacts Anton on (09) 487-4808 ASAP to organise the cancellations with the centres and the affected opposition teams.  It is very important to do this through the formal channels to ensure the communication is circulated to the correct parties.

Correspondence

During the season we deal with many issues ranging from team selection, grading, umpires or even general team issues.  It is important that we be made aware of any issues that might arise around netball, so if you have any queries or concerns relating to netball issues, we would appreciate your feedback or questions.  You can contact Anton on netball@kingsway.school.nz or on (09) 487-4808.  Please do not hesitate to contact us.
Please also forward your compliments or approvals as well, as it is always good to share a success story as well!!!
During the 2009 HBC season we received two extraordinary compliments involving one of our coaches (for a teachable attitude, positivity and openness) as well as an umpire (for fairness and consistency).  These were received from Orewa College and Silverdale School and we thank Chris and Nicole for being awesome ambassadors for the school next to the courts.
We also received a very encouraging e-mail from a Long Bay College coach, complimenting the College 1 team on their sportsmanship and conduct, on and off the court – thank you girls, this is awesome!!!
