Performing Arts

KingsWay School currently offers Drama, Dance, Music and Visual Art as option subjects from Years 10-13. All students in Years 1 – 9 are taught these subjects as part of the curriculum.

Students are able to develop their abilities and skills in a non threatening, safe, supportive and Christian environment.
Drama includes; learning about the history and various theatre forms, stage craft and technology, devising drama, techniques and major script performances. Dance includes; choreography, performing various genres, performance skills, solo and group performances. Music includes a theoretical component as well as aural aspects including performances to the local community. Visual Art is taught throughout all year levels of the school with many KingsWay students going on to tertiary study in visual art.

2007 saw the introduction of an Arts Council. This is a student initiative that is run by Year 13 students and overseen by a staff member. The purpose of this council is to promote and strengthen the Arts from Years 1 - 13.

If you would like to enrol your child for tuition please email Jo Clayton music@kingsway.school.nz or Ross Browne from R & B Music rbmusic@maxnet.co.nz Please make sure all lesson fees have been paid with cheques made out to the tutor or to R & B Music if your child learns from Mrs Wood, Mr Clayton, Mr Blackburn, Mr Crowe or Mr Abbott.
